altarflame: (new allfour)
Last week I got a big box of maternity clothes from [livejournal.com profile] talula_fairie, a card from [livejournal.com profile] jillene and a card from [livejournal.com profile] forgetfulmuse - thank you guys for making it fun to check the mail :) Jillene, that family pic is a GREAT picture of you - I love your hair like that. And Eleanor, I really liked that little card.

I'm in the process of knitting sweaters for all of the kids for Christmas. So far I've got all the pieces of Aaron's, just needing to be joined, done; the whole back and about half of the front, of Isaac's; about a third of the back of Jake's; and about a third of the back of Annie's. Only one of these is a chunky sort of yarn, so..you know. Isaac's is a grass-green washable wool blend, Annie's is an orange boucle, Aaron's is a light blue cotton, and Jake's is a gorgeous, dark turquoise sort of alpaca. It helps me stay motivated in a big way to be able to switch between projects. I have been doing things like staying up ultra late once the kids are in bed to knit, bringing it in the van anytime we go anywhere, etc, because I rarely get a chance to go at it during the day. I'm finding myself unable to type or use the mouse with my pointer or middle finger, and with very sore thumbs. I think I'm going to have knitting callouses by the time I'm done with this.

I've had a sort of depressed, stir crazy, hormonal feeling all weekend - spiritual stuff, not ever having a break, this and that. The constant re-washing and combing of the kids' hair to be sure we're done with lice is adding to my normal list of daily to-dos. It's going to be SO GOOD to get out of town at the end of the week, I cannot wait.

We went to Chili's for dinner Saturday, as part of a desperate Let's Get Stir Crazy Mommy Out of the House effort. It went well and the food was better than I expected...though that wasn't saying very much O_o It's silly to me how people WIG OUT about how many kids we have. I didn't grow up thinking 4 kids was such a crazy, unheard of lot. But the hostess, the waiter, the other customers - when I took 3 to the bathroom (obviously pregnant) people were pointing and getting each other's attention so they could see, too. I wanted to clap my hands to get everyone's attention just so I could announce that I also had a baby back at the table with their dad. At my last class on Wednesday I was talking to the professor about how this will be #5 and he flipped out so much that he interrupted the test some people were still taking to tell the whole class, who oohed, aahed, "Not me'd" and clapped. Really, people, get a grip. Uh...back to Chili's.

Then yesterday I started off the day by not being able to stand to get up to take the kids to church. Which I felt guilty about, and also sad about having missed my chance. I don't know what I was thinking staying up so late the night before, except that Shaun was over here until like 3 am and then I realized the kitchen was still a mess...Anyway, Sunday we'd planned to take advantage of some free passes Grant had gotten from the Everglades Alligator Farm (they're a customer of his) along with his mom, her husband and Mindy's kids, and then all go out to the Everglades National Park we usually go to, to grill for dinner.
