Grant brought home an iMac from work and we basically spent a couple of hours suspiciously circling it, periodically poking it with sticks. Seeing my professional IT husband try to figure out the most basic things (right click doesn't work?!) is kind of hilarious.
Me: Oh my gosh that monitor is so bright in here with the lights off -
Grant: That thing is like the sun.
Me: I can't deal with another sun in my life, especially at night. How do we turn it off?
Grant: I don't know.
Me: There must be a button?
Grant: Google image search "black" and just leave it on that all night.
That would be the most ridiculous part of my day, except that I spent my literature class in the computer courtyard writing a cited, MLA format paper analyzing the cinematography in The Big Lebowski.

Keep a lamp behind the monitors to shine against the wall for nighttime usage... that goes for the television as well.
