This is the rest of my pictures from Aaron and my trip to NYC last summer. I had/have a lot to say that is not said in this entry because I just haven't had the time, and don't see myself getting it...but I'm posting them here partially because I promised some people on tumblr and in my email that I would post this and the Grant and I story before I posted anything else since they're backlogged and keep getting put off.

CRAZY store across from the hotel where we stayed.

The dessert portion of the awesome lunch [livejournal.com profile] eruv treated me to. It was really, really easy to talk with her and I think we could "click" pretty easily if we lived closer together. The food was pretty good as well, I just didn't think to get the camera out beyond this. She took a pic of me and tweeted it as apparently there were other people who knew she was going out to lunch with "altarflame" and thought that was, like, a thing, which I think is, like, insane.

I really like Alex(eruv) way more online since I met her in person. Does that sound horrible? I couldn't get a handle on you before, Alex! Now I could sit around chatting with you anytime.

KRISTIN ARRIVED!!! I had someone to hang out with all day while Aaron was dancing and to EAT WITH OH MAN.

Kristin loves food as much as I do.

We both still say "LEGITIMATE" at the end of appropriate statements.

In exchange for a bedroom of our apartment, she took us out to eat.

It was fucking epic.

Then these guys came by again.

That night, my feet started swelling out of my shoes. When I took them off, blisters galore. I was really surprised by the look of the swelling and the blisters because I hadn't been able to feel either over the WAILING AGONY THAT WAS MY SHINS.

Seriously, it was bad. Apparently one should not make the switch from sedentary dumpling to "I walk several miles and climb a dozen flights of stairs everyday!" in such an immediate and drastic way...Having to stop to lean against a wall and cry in Time Square is not fun.

Here I thought I'd been some kind of boot camp warrior. ACTUALLY I still have the fucking shin splints and they act up anytime I try to go for a walk in flip flops (something I've done all my life).

So I had to go buy stupid supportive shoes.

And make Aaron stop and wait for me constantly when my shins were screaming and burning and taking my breath away.

And spend more time in the apartment.

Some of the things we saw when we did leave...

This bakery...the picture does not do it justice. Kristin and I sat outside on a bench literally up to our elbows in mango custard (the crust broke in it's tin and the stuff was smeared all over the inside of the bag, ok?!), moaning.

Kristin and I are in this picture. Down really low towards the middle. Tourists just stand around by the boatload staring up at the projected image of themselves in wonder :p

How I passed some of the time while Aaron was in rehearsals at the Hammerstein, the day of the Broadway show...Kristin had left for the airport right before I found this salad, which has inspired every salad I've had since.

I NEED SOME RICE PUDDING WITH MY NEXT SALAD! Seriously, eating in NYC is no joke.

Lines starting to form.

By the time I got in line, hours after the first shot was taken, the line extended blocks behind me and wrapped around a corner.

My view from the front row.

Tawanna was psyched.

There was no possible way to get good video or photography during this show, which was INCREDIBLE, start to finish. It's an "order a dvd" situation.

Afterward. Look at that wild exhileration. At this point that damned song ("If I can make it here, I can make it anywhere") was BLARING and balloons were falling from the ceiling and the auditorium was half empty and dancers were everywhere.

We went out to a late night dinner at 1 am on the way back to our place. He was on cloud nine every step of the way, and Tawanna had hugged me crying thanking me for bringing him and it was just great, and I knew we'd be headed home soon.

Big tough guy.

The next day we hit the Museum of Natural History. He was relatively blown away by a REAL ASTEROID.

Real garnet.

And the bees outside, that he made me document since they're different from the ones at home.

is the garnet imbedded into the asteroid?!?!?

if so, awesome! reminds me of the houston museum of natural science (yanno, when you guys are in Houston, naturally), the mineral exhibit they have is really awesome. their butterfly garden is the best I've seen and they have neat extra exhibits like one of only THREE known archaeopteryx fossils available (lizard-bird link!). your kids would all dig it!

No, it was a separate exhibit in another part of the museum.

That does sound great :) Aaron's favorite thing at the NY one was the rocks and minerals and geodes, which surprised me. He only seems interested in live animals I guess.
