The Library
Jun. 30th, 2006 01:42 amWe went to the library today to start participating in their summer reading program. It's pretty cool, you fill out a log for every time you've spent 4 hours reading (cumulative). When you turn it in, you get to pick a prize out of a big drawer that includes things like plastic cups that change color when you fill them with cold drinks, neon pencils, bookmarks, this and that. At the end of every week, each branch goes through their logs for that week and pick a couple of kids who win tickets to some local attraction. At the end of the whole summer, all the branches pool all their logs and pick a couple of grand prize winners for really cool stuff like swimming with dolphins in the Keys or a 10 person party at Wannadoo City. Plus they all got to write their names on little gold coins and add them to the pile of treasure on the big pirate mural. "Books Ahoy!", it's called.
I think we're going to start going to their Storytime on Thursday mornings, too. Kristen, from LLL, goes with her kids and says it is usually pretty cool.
You know, I realized that our library shelf has been kind of..um...stagnant? Like, we haven't returned anything for a reeeeeeeeeeeeaaally long time. I rounded up about 3 dozen books and 10 videos to take back, and they were due A YEAR AGO. This is what happens when you have too many priorities. Isaac now owes the library $248. It was $251, but I had three bucks on me. Right.
