Nov. 3rd, 2005 12:26 pmI swear I get a little less sleep every night. Last night Jake fussed and squirmed and grunted and fussed ALL NIGHT LONG, and if at any point I or Grant was not patting him, rocking him, burping or nursing or changing him, it escalated to loud crying. I'm talking the entire night. At around 6 it woke up Isaac (this is at least 3 hours before Isaac would normally get up, but I guess the sun was out and there was a lot of noise). He wouldn't go back to sleep, but was so tired, still, that all he could do was nurse or throw a tantrum. And Grant had early morning appointments in town and late morning appointments in a neighboring town, so I've been on my own today. Right now Jake is asleep in the Kozy Carrier on my chest, Isaac keeps running back and forth from the kids' room with board books for me to read him, and then exchanging them, Ananda is supposed to be finding her brush, to brush her hair, but is actually repeatedly making a show of it and then hoping I'll forget, and Aaron is helping to distract her, with pretend games.
I just made her go get my brush off the back of the toilet.
( Long thoughts that add up to how glad I am to feed my kids well, and recommitting myself to my own health. )
This has taken forever, I've put Jake and Isaac down for a nap and Aaron knocked the diaper pail over...does anyone think I'm cruel for making him clean it up? It's just putting a few wet diapers back in, and to my credit I was wearing a baby when the mess occured. My philosophy is that we never get mad or flip out about spills or pee accidents or anything like that, they just have to clean it themselves. Isaac actually runs and gets a dirty towel from the laundry room if he spills something or pees on the floor, and wipes it up, and then takes it back. Annie's hair is actually almost completely brushed. She hates doing it SO MUCH, but wigs out hysterical if I do it and I consistently give her the choice of cutting it short again if she'd rather not deal with the hassle, and she maintains that she wants it long. So I force her to brush it everyday. I suppose it's time to stop boring you all with my play by play, and quit enjoying my "break time", and put it to use cleaning...
