Hey everyone, this is Laura, Tina's sister. I am writing to let everyone know that Jacob Luke Walker was born tonight at 8:26pm and weighs a whopping nine pounds and point twelve ounces. I am sure Tina or Grant will write more soon.

What you may not understand is that information like that is really sensitive and is best delivered by mom herself, and it's likely she WANTED to be the one to tell people instead of having her ex come in and start noting people individually.
If it was me, I'd be royally pissed at you right now.

So, all I'm wondering is if she gave you permission to give that particular update or if you just took it upon yourself to tell everyone?...

I'm not pissed at you, but it made me go from "How will I share this, when I feel ready" to "Riiiight...now everyone knows and is presuming things and I need to come in and say 'That's right folks'..."

I would be just as upset if it was anyone, btw. I was momentarily irritated with Grant just for posting a birth announcement through my sister. I feel like it's my journal and I don't want anyone passing out partial bits of info through it, on something that's effecting me so deeply, unless it's my idea. You have a journal with lots of concerned christians on it who's prayers I appreciate...

it's a little hard to do so when the people I need to ask are in a hospital room.
Pick up a phone. That's not hard at all. Often they have phones in the hospital rooms, and if not you can leave a message for her at the desk. I have received phone calls while in hospital on many occasions.

You don't get what this meant, to her or her readers, which is why you can't see that our reactions are justified. Overall, you should never deliver birth news except BARE stats (weight, length, name). Even posting pictures is off-limits. Reserve those rights for mom.
If I was you, I'd delete the note I left with birth details out of respect for her boundaries.

I understand why you would want to share. But you aren't taking into consideration that I've spent almost a year on public soul searching and rants and self discovery, to be ready for a vbac, and ALL of the people who really understand that are here on my friends' list. It's humbling and embarassing to have ended up where I am now, and I definitely would have preferred the opportunity to tell the most valued people on my list within the context of the whole story. I wasn't ready to share yet - I still want to hide under a rock. I've been mentally preparing for the update I'll write, crying, and it would have been better to not come to my comment page and find out everyone already knows because you called my house and found out and casually mentioned it...
