Hmm... I have bachelor's and master's degrees in linguistics and am halfway through a PhD in English, and I swear and say "whatevs" and "like"... like, all the time. True language experts laugh at grammar nazis for not realizing that what is "correct" changes over time and the level of formality one uses depends on the medium, context, and audience, among other things. I mean, DUH. ;)
