Also, I don't know if he will think these are too babyish or schoolish, but maybe for Christmas you could buy him the first two or three Uncle Eric books. They might really get through to him about the existence of rules external to himself to which he must conform if he doesn't want to suffer and be dependent his entire life. I also bet he finds most of life completely baffling and has no clue how to even start trying to understand, and these books explain lots of stuff.
