I struggled with severe depression in my teen years and I remember that 8 was when it really began. It's my concrete memory of crying without knowing quite why and struggling with why I was still here. I would definately watch her and track it though, because as an adult I can see that my very real Depression was linked to a degree to my menstrual cycle. I was always at my worst during a PMS time. So with Annie it could be a mix of both; I will keep you and her in my prayers.
On a positive note, I am very healthy today and have been for 10+ years without meds, but after a very rigorous and positive therapy experience that included meds, cognitive and behavioral therapy, as well as counseling. I also prayed a very meaningful prayer and gave my pain to God in college and although it wasn't an immediate turn around, it was a transition point.
