Peektures
Grant asked Isaac to make a happy face, and then a mad face, and then a sad face. The drama queen was poised and ready for just such an occassion.

He asked Annie next.

This one took her a lot of giggling to get to.

Elise does happy, too.

I'm having entirely too much fun dressing this little girl. I've really gotten into baby clothes with Jake, and then her. It's silly but...irresistable and so freaking SATISFYING. The first 3 kids just wore onesies or a diaper all the time and I never really thought about it much.

Aaron is so good at this. I left him with her for a little while last night - when I came back he was holding a comb near her ear, and running his nail up and down the teeth of it "so she could hear". Sensory boy is ultra aware of stuff like that, with her - he'll run his hands under cold water and dry them so that she can feel "clammy skin"...all kinds of things like that. I was standing in the hallway near the elevator yesterday, trying to figure out what a smell was, and he got on saying, "Mmm, leechies" and it was like Eureka, boy, you've done it!

Later last night he got Eric Carle's "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" to "read" her. He actually has it memorized, but in any case he got it right the whole way through, turning the pages to show her each picture. Then he stroked her hair until she fell asleep.

There are no less than 3 penguins in that shot.
She now turns her head from one side to the other a couple of times anytime I lay her on her belly, and today Grant and I were rather shocked to see it looking like she was going to ROLL OVER. She didn't, but she's definitely lifting her head slightly higher than parallel with her body, now, and doing that banana shaped crescent thing where their head and their feet are up and they sort of almost rock, on their belly. She's sometimes a couple of inches from where I set her, when I pick her up, just from all the squirming. Right now Grant has her completely wrapped in a blanket with only her face showing, out on the couch, talking to her and getting her to make silly faces...but alas, there are no camera batteries at the moment :p

We're love penguins here too, and seeing yours just makes me smile. I was happy to know she had a penguin with her at the hospital.

That last one of Aaron and Elise is making me tear up. What a sweet little man he is.
I got your comment...and I cannot tell you how many times I have sat with the phone in my hand, praying for you and wanting to call and then not doing it because you are so busy, so many people calling and I don't know what to say that I haven't already said. That I love you, that I'm praying, that I want everything to be okay, that I wish I could do more. So...call me. Or tell me when to call you. I have that lovely unlimited long distance thing, so I can call anytime.
Do you guys have an estimated time of departure yet? I'm so anxious and excited!! No pressure though. Heh.
Speaking of penguins...have you guys seen the March of the Penguins? I love that movie. It makes me cry and laugh as much as any human drama.

The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential
Re: The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential
You know ...
(Anonymous) 2007-05-29 01:17 am (UTC)(link)Okay, the docs and statistics have been VERY wrong about her pretty much all along. (Well, the stats aren't WRONG, maybe, but not applicable to her, apparently.)
Either she is exceptional, or they don't know what they are talking about in regards to her (no disrespect intended).
So MANY things she's doing are EXACTLY what she should be doing.
I think she will be fine!
Prayers continue!
Yours in Christ,
Kathy
