Miami Roller Derby Radio!
Jan. 17th, 2015 07:19 pmThe Vice City Rollers (our local women's team), with Alpacalypse (i.e., Annie) representing the Junior skaters, have a new radio show that's airing every Saturday night at 9pm on 24/7 Miami. Last week's premiere episode is available to watch or listen to on YouTube here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKq3XXwSo8Q The video recordings can be pulled because of copyright, due to snippets of songs between segments sometimes being audible - and they're kind of a weird experience anyway, since you can't hear what's happening when songs play. So, feel free to tune in when they stream!
They had me on this morning, for the new episode (that YouTube pulled). You can still go tonight at 9pm, to listen the 2nd episode of Rink Rash Radio at www.247miami.tv! It's an hour long and features Ananda/Alpacalypse, as it did last week and will continue to. I was on as a one time guest this time, to talk about being the parent of a skater and the fan experience, and they had Grant calling in during the live feed (which was on YouTube).
It was a lot of fun. I'm really thrilled with how much Ananda loves doing it and how impressed with her they all seem to be. We're hoping this show gets listened to by other teams, who could even potentially lease air time to fill in themselves. Roller Derby is a microcosm unto itself and people get very into it.
