Yesterday I went to the grocery store and spent $240 on groceries for 4 days. I was very irritated about the amount. Go to bed, wake up, and observe my kids at breakfast - suddenly it all makes sense ;)

Just Breakfast

Ananda - 2 whole grain frozen waffles, maple syrup, bowl of Ohs cereal with organic milk, orange pineapple juice

Aaron - HUGE bowl of Ohs cereal (at least 2 normal servings) with organic milk, roll of deli ham

Isaac - 1.5 whole grain frozen waffles, maple syrup, roll of deli ham, orange pineapple juice

Jake - 1.5 whole grain frozen waffles, maple syrup, an individual sized applesauce, banana, a few mixed herbed-up nuts, orange pineapple juice

Elise - most of an apple, couple of handfuls of mixed nuts with herbs on them, half serving of Ohs with org. milk, banana, 3 rolls of deli ham

This means that for one breakfast my kids have consumed:
-5 waffles
-significant amount of (real) maple syrup
-half+ a box of cereal
-some organic milk
-about a quarter pound of lunch meat
-two bananas
-bunch of nuts
-most of a jug of expensive juice
-an applesauce and an apple

Suddenly I don't know how I got out of Publix spending only $240 O_o

I really think that aside from having a lot of kids, and buying healthy and sometimes more pricey food...my kids also just eat A LOT.

It helps a lot if we just scramble a dozen eggs with half a bag of shredded cheese and most of a loaf of bread for toast, or I make a huge pot of oatmeal or something. Then we spend under $10.

They're still clearing the dishes and Isaac is already asking if he can have nutella toast.
