Apr. 22nd, 2007 10:55 pmMy mother apparently brought Florida with her. The first morning we woke up with her here, it hit 70+ - the news said it was the warmest day in 6 months/since October. Then today it was 80 and hot in the van after it had been sitting! Totally bizarre. I keep trying to reassure her it REALLY WAS insanely cold every single day prior to her arrival, as we go for walks and to playgrounds in tank tops and sundresses.
Nancy should be back from Syracuse right about now, so that whole worry is past and that's good. She's called to check on me a couple of times and every time has more stories of people who've had successful vbacs after 2, 3 and even 6 c-sections, who are all apparently excited about my birth. It was the ICAN conference, after all. She claims to have had 3 different midwives vying over who would get to come back with her to help, should I go into labor, and many people tell her I should have just come there to have the baby; They can't take us all to prison! :p That whole idea is so ridiculous, of midwives in jail. Sheesh.
Over the weekend - I don't know if it was a psychological thing I was doing to myself since she was 5 hours away or what, but it just really felt like I would be SHOCKED and surprised, if I went into labor; like I was just in a state of indefinite pregnancy. Today has been a little different, and I'm not sure why. By the due date of the 15th, I'm now 7 days over. Baby is moving like crazy. I had a single contraction last night that was painful enough to wake me up, have to breathe my way through it, and then leave me completely awake. It was the only one that ever came O_o And it's not like Jake was nursing or anything (it's pretty common for me to have one or two stronger-than-usual ones if he is).
Yesterday was a good day. My mom raided a thrift store for the kids, and she was able to find really cool things for them. She got Ananda a reversible, hooded coat that will fit for a couple of winters and is SO...groovy. And a white tank top with handpainted black butterflies and flowers, and a leopard print, skirted velvet leotard that goes perfectly with these ridiculous leopard print tights she has. And Aaron got a Darth Vader costume, a mood ring and a hat. Isaac got a long sleeved motorcycle shirt and an OBNOXIOUS transportation print vest that he adores. Jake got an outfit, and Elise a couple of tshirts - one of which has some stenciled chicks, and the other of which is just adorable in a way I don't know how to describe. She only spent $40! It was one of those "Clothes by the Pound" places they have up here.
Grant took Ananda and Aaron to climb this very large, mountanous hill. First he layed out the big map of the place that he had, and they read the legend together and plotted a path. Then they went over the rules (it's a state park) and put together a list of supplies. They stopped for water, jerkey and trail mix, on the way there. I love homeschool :D He took some great pictures, and then some more at a restaurant all out together that night.

Sidenote of sorts; April 20 was Grant and I's first wedding anniversary. We didn't get to do anything much, which was dissapointing only because we had big "Weekend away alone" plans back before I got pregnant this time, but he did surprise me with THE PERFECT card and then we went out to lunch together, today. I am so glad I married him, every day.
Everybody together now: "Baby come out, baby come out, baby come out...
