Oct. 4th, 2006 11:43 pmI got almost no sleep last night. Every single night I have these sinus attacks as I'm laying down; either they keep me from going to sleep for hours, or they wake me up sneezing and watery eyed. Often both. I've vaccumed my room, I've changed my bedding. This used to happen ALL THE TIME when I was pregnant with Ananda, too. UGH. I end up sitting out here like a zombie alone, blowing my nose over and over because I don't want to wake up Grant and Jake. I'm so tired of it. Last night it was after staying up extra late to clean like mad, because I'd been so busy all day at PATH, and taking A and A swimming at the Y, and cooking dinner, and etc - the house was a TOTAL wreck and I just couldn't leave it that way.
Backtracking: in the evening Isaac had snuck off with a SEALED bottle of Grant's homeopathic anti-inflammatories, off of the counter, took them in his room and we found him feeding them to Jake. Cue heart attack. Luckily according to Poison Control homeopathics almost never hurt kids, unless they take like over 30 (the brand new bottle said 100 - there were still 95 in it when we counted and Isaac said he ate two of them). Reason #542 to use natural medicines. I was almost crying imagining if that had been tylenol. He is SO QUICK.
Within minutes of this;
babyslime had her baby!! I yelped out loud when I saw Canada on the Caller ID, having spent the ENTIRE DAY refreshing my friends' page when home and toting Grant's cell "just in case" while I was out. :D You should all go look at that gorgeous child. *sigh of happiness*
Today has been neverending. I got up, I made the last of the butternut squash for Jake, Isaac and I while starting lentil soup for everyone's lunch. Started laundry. While food was being prepped I had Annie doing review math pages - single digit addition and subtraction problems. Once I could sit with her, we worked on her two times table like we have been for a week. Minus the day we spent on the ones. She's obsessed with times tables since they came up in Matilda (we're re-reading it). Writing, reciting and flash cards later I laid down with her and Jake - him nursing and her being read a chapter. He cooperated and started taking a nap, so I snuck out, did dishes, and went and grabbed Isaac and took him to his bed where we read The Very Busy Spider, nursed and he also took a nap. My sister called; I expressed my baby elation to her forHeather Babs and had to go, so I made lemonade and got brownies baking with A and A. They do love that citrus juicer. Served up soup, and finished Aaron's book, Rowan of Rin at the table with him while we ate. He LOVED IT, and now he wants all the other Rowan books for Christmas. Then Annie ran off to play while I planned and wrote the paper that was due tonight in Philosophy and forced Aaron to do handwriting and coloring and counting stuff nearby at the table. That lasted forever. Isaac and Jake woke up towards the end, and when I finally got it done, moved laundry to dryer, got babies dressed and made up a tray of brownies and lemonade, with apples for Jake and whoever else wanted them, we went out for tea. I took letter cards to work on with Aaron while we were out. It's been a long hard road to him knowing all the letter sounds on sight. Ended up playing and taking pictures until Grant got home from the chiropractor, in the nick of time to print my paper in the office, get my dress out of the dryer and run out the door to only be 10 minutes late. Class was thought provoking and enjoyable, but hard to stay awake through in the middle. I took a lot of notes and said some things; it would be easier to re-hash if it wasn't a drop in the bucket of my cyclone. In any case I think I'll be requesting Voltaire's Candide and Augustine's Confessions as birthday presents. And I think my paper today was better than my last one, and I might actually get excited about the one due next week (on "The problem of evil", as in how to reconcile a perfect God with an imperfect world).
Grant made fajitas and quesadillas for dinner, I was very grateful. He also got everyone's teeth brushed and herded the three bigger kids towards bed as I took Jake in our room. I went out to the store at 11 for cream cheese and spicy v8, and came back with 5 bags of stuff, none of which was cream cheese. *headdesk* I think I'm past my expiration date.
Grant carved that big jack-o-lantern pumpkin up, by the way. I think it came out pretty good, pasrticularly as it was intended as an initial, experimental carving.

Somewhere in there I nursed Jake often, changed a billion diapers including one veritable EXPLOSION from Isaac (he is totally pee trained - WHY CAN'T HE POOP ON THE POTTY TOO?!), and handed out a billion crackers. I was also seized at one point with an incredible longing to go to Jacksonville and be there. And see my mother.
After I obsessively check for more pictures of baby Xan, I think I am going to have todo more dishes and go to bed.
