My mother apparently brought Florida with her. The first morning we woke up with her here, it hit 70+ - the news said it was the warmest day in 6 months/since October. Then today it was 80 and hot in the van after it had been sitting! Totally bizarre. I keep trying to reassure her it REALLY WAS insanely cold every single day prior to her arrival, as we go for walks and to playgrounds in tank tops and sundresses.
Nancy should be back from Syracuse right about now, so that whole worry is past and that's good. She's called to check on me a couple of times and every time has more stories of people who've had successful vbacs after 2, 3 and even 6 c-sections, who are all apparently excited about my birth. It was the ICAN conference, after all. She claims to have had 3 different midwives vying over who would get to come back with her to help, should I go into labor, and many people tell her I should have just come there to have the baby; They can't take us all to prison! :p That whole idea is so ridiculous, of midwives in jail. Sheesh.
Over the weekend - I don't know if it was a psychological thing I was doing to myself since she was 5 hours away or what, but it just really felt like I would be SHOCKED and surprised, if I went into labor; like I was just in a state of indefinite pregnancy. Today has been a little different, and I'm not sure why. By the due date of the 15th, I'm now 7 days over. Baby is moving like crazy. I had a single contraction last night that was painful enough to wake me up, have to breathe my way through it, and then leave me completely awake. It was the only one that ever came O_o And it's not like Jake was nursing or anything (it's pretty common for me to have one or two stronger-than-usual ones if he is).
Yesterday was a good day. My mom raided a thrift store for the kids, and she was able to find really cool things for them. She got Ananda a reversible, hooded coat that will fit for a couple of winters and is SO...groovy. And a white tank top with handpainted black butterflies and flowers, and a leopard print, skirted velvet leotard that goes perfectly with these ridiculous leopard print tights she has. And Aaron got a Darth Vader costume, a mood ring and a hat. Isaac got a long sleeved motorcycle shirt and an OBNOXIOUS transportation print vest that he adores. Jake got an outfit, and Elise a couple of tshirts - one of which has some stenciled chicks, and the other of which is just adorable in a way I don't know how to describe. She only spent $40! It was one of those "Clothes by the Pound" places they have up here.
Grant took Ananda and Aaron to climb this very large, mountanous hill. First he layed out the big map of the place that he had, and they read the legend together and plotted a path. Then they went over the rules (it's a state park) and put together a list of supplies. They stopped for water, jerkey and trail mix, on the way there. I love homeschool :D He took some great pictures, and then some more at a restaurant all out together that night.
Climbing the hill...

Stopping for a snack...

Climbing climbing - it took them over an hour...

The idea that I ever thought it would be bad for her, to have him, blows my mind.

They made it!!

Later, at the restaurant...

Doesn't he look like he should be manning a tollbooth on the highway or something, in this thing?

And this one definitely had barbecued ribs for dinner.

Grant went to the bathroom just to have an excuse to come back and get a whole table shot of us when we least expected. His shirt says, "I chose the road less traveled, and now where the heck am I?"

And Annie, who was feeling tired, is showing the edge of her groovy coat here. It's reversible, leopard on one side (as that is her thing right now) and this print on the other, both sides with distinctive pockets and very different buttons.

Sidenote of sorts; April 20 was Grant and I's first wedding anniversary. We didn't get to do anything much, which was dissapointing only because we had big "Weekend away alone" plans back before I got pregnant this time, but he did surprise me with THE PERFECT card and then we went out to lunch together, today. I am so glad I married him, every day.
Everybody together now: "Baby come out, baby come out, baby come out...

Yeah my mom got here the other night, and we were like, "Do you know what day it is?" and she was like, "I'd never heard of that and I'm even from Key West, but Bob told me about it", and we were like, NO, not that!

I did, to be fair, have one retired renegade midwife in South Florida willing to "help me plan an unassisted birth" and one woman in Georgia who was willing to consider me "after I sent her my operative history to look over". But neither of them felt right or were a sure thing. I think all these ICAN people find it easier to be so enthusiastic when there is already a prominent figure there taking the lead, who they can sort of hide behind, if you know what I mean.

Tina you're like fresh birthing meat! Yummy and good for the soul!

Sorry I got a little carried away there. I LOVE that print on Ananda's coat. I can't see it as well as I'd like, but I can tell I LOVE it.
That picture of Isaac cracked me up. Reminded me of Luci. And it helps that I've seen him "in action" now, so that pictures are so much more fleshed out for me. So cute. They are all so. freaking. cute.

That picture actually reminded ME of Luci, when I saw it.

I always look forward to these updates of yours.

Speaking of interesting date trivia, did you know that both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on July 4th 1826- the 50th birthday of our nation.
Anyway...I just like dates and will occasionally google a date just to see what happened on that day. lol

Okay, guess I just wanted to share random trivia. :)

Isaac's vest is pretty obnoxious but if he loves it, that's all that matters. ;-)
Happy Anniversary! Sorry you guys didn't get to do much. Maybe next year. ;-)
I'll start thinking very strong labor thoughts for you! And saying prayers. :-D

Brian and I live our lives doing the "baby come out" shuffle. I'll have to go by your house and pick p something of yours and try some voodoo soon.
I think that the impatience that comes during this phase of pain in the ass, I mean pregnancy, is a very natural part of preparing for labor and birth. Just wait, pretty soon you'll be nursing her in the computer chair watching Brian crawl around thinking how crazy it is that time moves so quickly.

You are more than welcome to try voodoo. I'm sure there is some hair of mine in the bathroom.
I already think every day how quickly time moves, just watching my other kids...but not pregnancy. Pregnancy moves sooooooooooooooooo. slooooooooooooooooooooow.

Someone aasked me if I was going to wear green on 4/20. I asked, "For Earth Day?" and got laughed at.
