When I went into labor, I weighed 217 pounds. Yesterday, at 10 days postpartum, I weighed 190.5 - TODAY, at 11 days pp, I weighed 186.5! Is that even ok? I mean I'm pumping 30 ounces of milk a day plus nursing Jake 2+ times a day and Isaac once a day. I do a fair amount of walking, at the hospital. And I assume recovering from surgery burns some calories? Still, I am TOTALLY not watching what I eat, or making any effort to lose weight. It's been Subway and Wendy's on my way to and from the hospital, with emergency stops for decaf frappuccino when I get extra emotional. Weight is not really even on my list of priorities. But I'm fitting in jeans already. I've never lost weight this rapidly after a baby. The only thing I can think is, maybe it's because I was so healthy during my pregnancy, and only gained baby and water weight, rather than putting on fat from junk.

I had a similar experience - 214 down to 187 within two weeks (if only that had continued...) The docs did not find it worthy of comment at my 5 week post checkup, so if yours don't either, I would just be happy and focus on eating well when you can for the sake of your health and strength.

Thank you....and yeah, my "He's so beautiful"s tend to be accompanied by the sniffs, too :p I want him so badly. It's really starting to wear on me, having to be buzzed through doors, wash my hands, put on a gown and have someone check my bracelet, just to find out someone else already changed his diaper. :::sigh:::

I did notice I had a lot more swelling, acne and screwed up frizz when I was pregnant with a girl. Even Grant will admit I was not looking good while I was carrying Ananda. But the weight came off really quick - I'd lost 35 of the 46 pounds I gained by my 4 week checkup.

I feel like my whole body is aching when I look at those pictures! I can't do it too often or I'll get depressed.

And Isaac is gonna kick your ass for calling him Irish. Don't you know there's a rivalry there, with the Scottish? :p

Thank you, about the birthday, btw. It's strange because 24 seemed like a big deal a few months back, but now I feel so much older than that, somehow. In the course of the last month I've somehow started going to the bathroom and changing my pads in front of Grant, and we listen to Public Radio news and jazz in the minivan, and everytime we meet up with old high school friends there's just nothing to relate to...he was on the phone with someone the other day who asked to talk to me (for the first time in years) and he told him that right then both of my hands were busy with pumping breastmilk, and the guy actually said "EWWW!" o_O Idiots...
