My grandmother had pernicious anemia basically my whole life. She passed away almost two years ago, but neither her death nor the cancers she had over her life had anything to do with her anemia (although some of the treatments did make the anemia flare up...if that's the right word). The later years of her life the treatment for her anemia was so much better, but she lived a very full and active life (she had five children and 14 grandchildren). It was really her other health issues that slowed her down over the years. All this to say, I hope it is some consolation to you that there is very successful treatment for this condition. And I am happy you finally have a diagnosis. I always feel for friends and family who are just waiting for answers, it is so stressful, but having a diagnosis means you can develop care/treatment plan. You can conquer this! You can do it!!
