I have PTSD and I have things like this happen to me all the time. I find it very hard to see what are (in hindsight or to other people) BLINDINGLY obvious connections between events in my life and my psychological reactions to them. I just go off into a nutnut world and can't figure out why until someone or something helps me see, at which point I also do a *headdesk* and wonder why I couldn't make the connection earlier.
