I adopted from Cambodia around the same time her adoption went through, know quite a few of the people involved directly and indirectly, and have since worked in adoption trafficking specifically in Cambodia, as well as child trafficking. So I'm not talking out of my hat here. I like her as a mom - her kids seem to be doing splendidly. But she is a very bad role model for adoption, and holding her up as a good role model contributes to a lot of misperceptions. There are better advocates and role models out there for adoption specifically. She is pretty good for refugee rights and wildlife preservation though.
