I actually had a lame trip to the fair. I didn't think such a thing was possible. But I think that's because it's been so long since I was dumb enough to go on a Friday or Saturday night.
I sat in stop and go traffic right outside for 10 minutes waiting to get in and park.
I walked from the van to the entrance of the place for over 20 minutes. Powerwalking, cutting across grass, all of it. I actually couldn't SEE the (brightly lit, tall rides) fair from where I had to park. A family getting out of their car next to me and I laughed about it...in a sarcastic sort of way.
Grant took a picture of the insanely crowded line to get tickets (he met me there).
We were only able to go on two rides, because of the lines. And they were good, but I don't generally want to set up a babysitter, get all my kids dressed and shoe'd and pack a bag of food and a bag of diapers and drop them off and then travel half an hour...for two rides.
I really don't know why people go on weekends now that I've done it again.
The only part I really liked, aside from getting some haggled-down-price mermaid stuff for my bathroom, was the poultry part of the farm expo. Because I am a chicken nerd now and so I thought that was awesome.
I had this idea that my evening was going to go:
-fried mushrooms
-afterburner
-gravitron
-double looper
-orbiter
-whatever else
-peanut butter fudge
-more rides, and lemonade
Perhaps during an ealier portion of a less in demand day, another year O_o
The kids had a great time with Laura, anyway, who once again managed to get three times as much accomplished with all of our kids than she generally can with just her one.
